Aqualung or Apeks Comfobite. Don't bother with the generic copies as they are too soft and squirm in the mouth.

Apeks comfobite. They're stiffer than the aqualungs and I much prefer them. The aqualungs are better than the generic comfobites, but the Apeks are worth the little bit extra

I use these on almost all my regs:

Twin-Bite Mouthpiece (6 Colors) | Dive Gear Express®

At $4 each, they are cheap. As far as I can tell, they are identical to the mouthpieces that came stock on my Atomic regs. I have some of these that I have been using for a few years now and they still look like new (i.e. I have never bitten through one). I find them VERY comfortable.

I have an Aqualung Comfo-bite on my CCR right now. I used it for 2 hours on Saturday. I don't like it just because it feels too small for my mouth. It does not extend very far back down the sides of my mouth and makes me feel like I'm holding it in with just my front teeth. I'll be ditching it before my next dive.

I've got about a dozen of these left over from a project with some kids. We wanted something stiffer - these also seem to be a little stiffer in the silicon part so they couldn't bite thru/tear it,

I've got more than I'll ever use so send your address and I'll mail you a couple. (I know you're in HI)

Ultra Clear Silicone Mouthpiece

(To save suggestions, I’ve tried the mouthpieces you mold in hot water and don’t like them.)

Maybe it’s an oxymoron, but is there a ‘durable’ or thick silicone mouthpiece that anyone recommends? The cheap silicone ones I got from LDS are flimsy and it makes me feel like I need to use my teeth to hold them in, versus just using my lips with the rubber ones. The silicone is much more comfortable against my gums which is why I’m looking.

Thanks!

Everyones mouth is a little bit different. Some people have a much harder time finding a mouthpiece that works best for them than others.

I suggest you go to the biggest dive shop near you and ask to see all their inventory, then ask to see all the different mouthpieces on their rental regs. You might find exactly the one you want. If not, mouthpieces are not that expensive. Buy a few different ones you can find online that look like they might wotrk for you and try them out.

Poseidon Mouthpiece

I just don't see it "Most All Regulator 2nd Stages, Designed for Poseidon XSTREAM, Cyklon or Jet Stream Regulators" man!

I was thinking about getting one of these, why don't you like them?

Hi Mike, this is just my opinion and experience: with the molded mouthpiece, it fits around (my) teeth and therefore it seems (my) jaw can only be in 1 position to be comfortable. This is extreme, but an analogy could be like a straight jacket for my jaw. Before using it, I had a 'generic rubber' mouthpiece and didn't have to use my jaw or teeth at all, just my lips, so there was a lot of freedom that I felt like I lost with the molded mouthpiece.

I know a lot of people really like them. Mine is in my spare parts bin, but every time I take it out and try again it just goes back in the bin.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! The silicone with the bit tab inserts seems exactly what I was looking for without knowing it. I also saw one in a different LDS the other day so I'll give it a shot.

I have a 'generic comfobite' and agree it's squirmy. If the silicone/bite tab style doesn't work I'll try that next.
