I like the wing. It's functional and I like using the dump valves. My only issue so far has been that the valves on mine unscrewed themselves just enough to sometimes hold air and sometimes vent randomly when the surge turned the threads. Was a fun few dives before I figured out the problem. It was easy to screw them back in and I've had no problems since. Would recommend getting a spare power inflator as well. I put mine through quite a bit of abuse and had to replace the inflator in the first few months.

Also, by default it comes with a pull-dump valve. But, if you order one and ask in the Comments, I think you can get it swapped for a plain elbow at no extra charge. I *think*.

I have one of the new wings with about 20 or so dives on it. I really like it and would buy again if something happened to it.

I did get DGX to swap the pull dump for a plain elbow for me (thanks DGX!). I would recommend you call and ask prior to ordering if you want to do that and not just put it in the comments. Their website says "no substitutions," but they were able to accommodate me.

It sounds like another near-perfect wing! My heart was so set on it, until Bryan at VDH mentioned his 18 wing will be back in stock next week. Now I can't choose between this DGX 30 and that VDH 18! I've been in touch with DGX and I'm very impressed. They are super nice. People on this forum also vouch for VDH's customer service as well. Neither seems anywhere nearly as bad as Tobin/DSS.

Both great choices. The price is hard to be on the dgx for the lift your getting. Vdh wings are also really nice. I wanted the 23. I’m also a fan of the new deep6 wings. I really love the built in grab handle

I know right? They are all impressive - VDH 18, Oxycheq 18, DGX 30, Deep 6 20, Dive Rite Travel EXP, all very small and light and relatively affordable. Took me a long time to figure I'd prefer the first three on the list because they are smaller than the Deep 6 and DR. No good deal for Oxycheq 18 at the moment. That leaves VDH 18 and DGX 30. DGX has the remote exhaust, which I'm interested in, but 30lb is too too much lift for a tropical, single-tank diver using minimal weight... Is there any other significant difference between the two then? I know the VDH has the internal bungee, I'm not sure how it affects diver's experience with such a tiny wing.

I think @stuartv has experience with the VDH wings and HOG wings and might be able to provide some insight.

There was a discussion a few months ago about the relative size between the different lift capacities of single tank wings and IIRC, within a brand, the size difference, particularly uninflated, was somewhat nominal.

My recommendation is to go with the 30 lbs lift wing as it should work well for your minimal weight tropical diving and still have the versatility to be used should your local/water temp/weight situation change. The DGX 30 lbs wing looks to be fairly compact and streamlined.

Got the DGX for myself and a friend.

No Taco when empty.

Great wing and customer service is great from DGX.

My most "local" diving is like 28-30 degree... but in Celcius  I'm a wuss, I'm never doing anything remotely temperate, let alone actually cold hehe. But you're right, there are considerations for the DM course in the future, or maybe deco diving with a pony - 18lb *might* be sufficient, but my Rescue instructor thinks 18 might cut it a bit close, while 30 is too much, so that's not helpful either...

They have been an absolute pleasure to work with! I'm also more confident in their ability to stay in business and 100% functioning. VDH is great but too boutique and runs the inherent risks of instability like Deep Sea Supply used to. One-man shows are always a bit suspect, even though many of them do churn out excellent products. Perhaps better chance of ensuring continued customer support in the future.

(I don't exactly *know* the sizes of those companies, but my impression is Oxycheq/DiveRite is bigger than DGX/DRIS is bigger than OMS is bigger than Deep 6/Edge-Hog is bigger than VDH/DSS etc. my estimations could be way off though  what do you guys think? While small businesses can and do deliver top-notch quality, bigger companies have the cash flow to be more resilient when SHTF)
