Anytime I roll over to look behind me or try to do that "oh so impressive" yogi crossed leg meditation move, I sink in a head first declination. Is this because I have now placed my center of gravity (tank, trim weights, belt weights) etc. behind / lower than my flotation device (lungs)? Should I rotate my weights to the front of my weight belt?

How can I compensate so I can do those fancy DM / Instructor moves?

no. no one got trolled. i was watching a video and was reminded of my difficulties.

everyone's so paranoid today.

It's only paranio if it isn't true

Fiddle with placement of your weights. Make incremental, symmetrical changes so you can detect the change and increase or reset and adjust in another direction as necessary.

Have to agree with others...the meditation pose is a cute instructor parlor trick for BOW students.

@BoundForElsewhere,

Why do Buddha hovers at all? No value in teaching buoyancy/depth control.

Going inverted and maintaining a constant depth is a good exercise. I recommend using some sort of reference. I have students do this in my buoyancy course.

And useful, too. I dive with some photography freaks and it’s nice when I spot something to beckon them over and micro-kick into a vertical position, head and eyes oriented still on the subject, while they come in at the optimal angle to get their shot.

I probably write that better than I actually pull it off but they haven’t booted me yet and they’re pretty picky old farts.
