Congrats!! I'm one year retired, every morning I wake up trying to recall what day it is and often need to think about during the day. :) No more wishing life away "I wish it were Friday". You're there, everyday is Saturday.

You'll love it!!

Thanks for “introducing” yourself. And happy retirement!

Welcome! I'm sure many of us would like to take advantage of retirement, but you did it. Enjoy all those shoulder season travel deals...

Congrats.

Hello Kathy V.,

My wife is fully retired. I am working a pre-retirement job.

Congratulations! You have earned it.

My wife did have transitional issues. She worked through those issues and is now totally happy. I hope your retirement path is easy and full of enjoyment!

I hope to see you diving someday!

cheers,
m

I love it, you will too.
You get up in the morning with nothing to do, and by the time you go to bed, you've only gotten half of it done.

Congrats !!!

Congratulations and I hear ya! I recall that day in Sept. in '96 (well, late AUGUST in Manitoba...) when all the other teachers gathered at the traditional Wine & Cheese to tell of their summer adventures. Was weird not having to report.
Now, welcome to the world of "If today isn't so good weather I'll dive tomorrow--who cares if it's not a weekend!"

Congrats. Time to relo to the Cayman munnnnnn....enjoy.

Thank you all! It is both exciting and scary and will require getting used to it - but I think it will be okay!

Congratulations. I look forward to seeing even more posts and reports.

Congrats! You now have time to do the things you have always wanted to do.

So far, I have not found anything about retirement that is even slightly scary. Now I have time to do what I want to do, and when I want to do it. For me, scary is the thought of ever having to go back to work--and I loved what I did while working.

Congratulations, Kathy! Hopefully that means more diving in your future. I pulled the plug about 5 years ago, and that's when we decided to move to GC for half the year. So think about coming on down for an extended stay.

It took me about a year to stop worrying about what meeting I was supposed to be attending or what project I was invariably behind on. A good friend advised me it would take at least that long until the epiphany would hit that you are now on vacation for the rest of your life. Enjoy the next phase of your life!

My Financial Adviser said to me in 1996 I should make sure I had "goals" in retiring so early at 42. I said-- "NO PROBLEM"
He died 3 years ago (2017). I was right.
Some people (like my deceased Brother-in-Law, can't contemplate retirement without the job). I've never been one of those.
