This thread may wind up in the Pub soon enough, if deep dude keeps on it. We’re a friendly bunch, don’t bite much...

I appreciate all of those posts. I would rather learn from someone else's failures than to do it on my own.
Right on....who does one think they are questioning another’s freedom to post here on an open forum.

if you don’t care for ones writings, then use the ignore button...and yep, Deep is one of three now:wink:

Most major US legacy carriers gave up on the fuel hedge lottery. SW is the exception and may face headwinds due to their locked in costs.

Which explains why Southwest was about $600-700 for the same dates in July as I got my screaming deal on.

I booked business class to Cancun for $650, which is really great for business class.

Though I am going to Tulum for cave diving.

Ahhhh, business class. I recently got bumped to first class on a trip to Tulum by giving the Gate Person a box of ferrar roches. I really really enjoyed that.

Yeah, it's probably best if I just ignore vendettas that arise here.

I see that Lubbock-Cozumel RT tickets are widely available for $333 now. I bought my August ticket in December as I was thrilled to see fares under $400 after paying $650 a year earlier as I was afraid they'd go back up. I don't guess that American would give me a break now as they'd charge me a change fee to rebook that would more than negate the savings. I will pay $30 more to avoid Basic economy restrictions and penalties, as I did then. I do enjoy flying Business or First Class, but not enough to pay $350 extra as quoted today. I sleep in Tourist class fine. Besides, they like to substitute American Eagle planes on some legs, and they've already changed one of my flights from a B-737 to Embraer ERJ.

I am surprised that anyone is still booking cruises with some of the horror stories we see nowadays. Cheap fares work there too I guess.

Lucky, I rarely get upgraded unless the airline has wronged me and I ask nicely. But I also rarely fly anymore so I am only slightly above the unwashed masses with my normal member status.

I saw the same rate for TPA to CUN, but I figured $140 for bags, another $30 each way for a real economy seat, and I'm already at $530. Another $120 gets me lounge access, another 40lbs of baggage allowance (which is nice for cave divers), and a good chance of being bumped to first.

Chocolates. Always, always bring chocolates for both the crew and gate staff.
