Opening Of Indonesia pushed to end of 2020?

I received this email from Spice Island Divers in Ambon last Friday:

Dear all,

Hope this email finds you well and still optimistic in this weird and dreadful time of the year.

I have the latest news from Indonesia, that there is a discourse from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menkomarves) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan saying Indonesia will not open the tourism sector to foreign tourists until the end of 2020. It's not official yet.
The immigration won't give any visa for International tourists except for those who have a working visa or Indonesian returning home.

So, I would suggest we reschedule all the bookings for 2021 or 2022. Let me know what you think? If let says there is more hopeful news from the government, I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, please stay strong and healthy .

Yep all my liveaboards cancelled this week. Not surprising at all.

I’ve been waiting to actually cancel my plans for my October trip and did so this weekend.

My hope is to be able to travel there by April.
Trip planning keeps the spark alive...

That is 5 trips I have had cancelled now. I still have another trip over New Years... I think by then I will be so desperate to get out of here that I will do anything to get there... maybe. It does take the pressure off trying to make those responsible choices!

I hear ya.
I am even seriously considering diving in the cold, here in California.

I pulled out the boxes with the dry suits the other day and stared at them for about 2 minutes, then very gently slid them back into the closet!

The only thing we can hope/wish for is that it will be towards the end of 2020 and not the end of 2021 or more.
We somewhat have allowed tourism here in Greece for about a month now and please have a look what is going on.

I don't know for you guys, but I will not consider traveling until all this is settled down for good - especially to countries like Indonesia.

Damn, have an October trip to Ambon booked and was hoping it might still happen. Will wait for it to be official, but I suspect its gone. Good time to dive locally, but just not the same
