Where to go/stay in the Bahamas?

So I'm turning 30 in March and I am planning a vacation for myself and my family. Its the big 3-0, so I'm trying to get some bucket list items off my list which led me to the Bahamas. Two of the bucket list items are: 1) Dive with a pod of dolpins 2) Dive a blue hole Here is what I've learned...

Hood Canal Trip, where to stay?

I've been in Seattle a year now and I am FINALLY getting some plans together to go diving. A couple of buddies and I will are planning on going to the Hood Canal the weekend of May 22-23. Right now we are looking for places to stay. Anyone have any recommendations? I've been diving in the canal...

23 days to first Bonaire trip! Please share your best tips.

Looks like all the good tips have been given so far. There was one restaurant that I absolutely loved while we were there. I can't for the life of me remember the name, but they have a weekly BBQ buffet for $20 (I think on Mondays). BBQ Chicken, Ribs, BBQ Pork, BBQ Beef, etc... the works! I was...

    Endless Ocean

I played the first one and it was surprisingly fun considering how slow the game was. The publisher really did a great job in capturing the feel of being underwater. For any divers that are also gamers, I recommend playing the first one and I can't WAIT for the sequel to be released.

    Hi from Southern Orgeon

Welcome! I currently live in Seattle, but I'm originally from Roseburg, OR. Its good to see some fellow Oregonians on here. If I were you, I'd forget about the refresher course and head straight into the AOW course. You'll probably get a short refresher during the beginning of that course...

How old were you when you started diving?

OW at 12, AOW at 16, Rescue at 20. Then life came along. I swear I'll get my DM and Instructor's one of these days :-)

    Bonaire versus Cuba: safetywise

I've never been to Cuba, but during my time in Bonaire, I always felt safe. Again, petty crime seems to be the standard if at all. Most of the dive operations will remind you to lock your car and take your keys with you when you park for a shore dive. Apparently its common for people to steal...

    Scuba Stickers

Is everyone familiar with those scuba stickers that are shaped like a certain state and look like the diver's flag? I see them a lot on people rear windshields. Does anyone one know where I can order those online?

Thats why I love this forum! Great advice everyone! Thank you! NC diving sounds like a lot of work, but also a lot of fun, just the way I like it. Hopefully I'll have some spare vacation time to extend my trip! Thanks again to all of you for the advice!

North Carolina July 17th-19th... any suggestions?

Hi! I'm going to be traveling to Greensboro, NC in July of next year on business. I've never been to NC and I don't know when I might be there in the future, so I was thinking I might check out the legendary dive scene while I'm out there. I'll be in Greensboro from the 17th-19th, but I might...

Best place to view Manta Rays

Definitely the Big Island in Hawaii. Its an easy dive, not very deep and you just sit on the bottom as the swim all around you. I was there last October and the dive guide said he counted 17 manta rays that night. The great thing about that dive is that you can either dive it or snorkel it. My...

Shore Diving Grand Cayman in December

She is FORCING you to go to Grand Cayman? Hahaha. Why just shore diving? I've been to Grand Cayman several times and in my opinion, you're missing out on some good dives if you just shore dive.

    Just wanted to introduce myself

I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading it for a couple months now. I'm 26, I have about 120 dives under my belt and I'm currently certified as a Rescue Diver with PADI and I intend to one day make my way to instructor level. If only that stupid thing called "the real world" didn't get in...

Bonehead dive buddies - Share your stories

I saw the thread title "Bonehead Moves - Sacrifices to the Dive Gods", from reefseal and it inspired me for another "Bonehead" thread. Please share any bonehead stories of you or your dive buddies doing something monumentally stupid. I'll start: Bonaire Night dive. My Dad (~150 dives)...
