Wondering if anybody, besides those in Europe, has purchased any gear from DIR Direct. Have you encountered any issues or are they reliable ? I heard one comment already and would like to hear any general consensus. Thanks

    Santi BZ 400 extreme

I'm getting tired of being cold. I'm now trying longer dives in fairly chilly water. I dive in temps down to 37 F. Average temp here is mid 40's. I'm looking at the Santl BZ 400 extreme heated thermal with gloves, canister , the whole set up. I currently dive a Bare Super high loft thermal...

CO limits in tanks ( and detection of )

just acquired a new Analox detector for detection of CO in my scuba tanks before diving. I cannot find any guidelines on the internet as to the recommended safety limits for detection of CO in tanks. In other words, the CO detector says "X" after a reading on a tank. Is "X" safe and what are...

    Sept/Oct 2014 diving in Croatia

There wasn't a lot of response below, but I'll try anyway. I'm looking for dive shops recommendations in Croatia. I'm AOW, (drysuit) so most of the wrecks to the north around Pula are a bit too deep for my cert level. I am comfortable to 40 meters. 250 dives, mostly cold water. I'm looking...

Zeagle Ranger BCD to a BP/W changeover ?

I'm thinking about changing my Zeagle Ranger LTD BCD (44lb "lift") to a BP/W setup. I read all the BP/W advantages, more streamlined, less bulky to travel with, possibility of shedding some carried weight and so on. My question is this. I've read that I can take some components of my...

    Thought I knew, but

now, I'm wondering. I have read the other threads wrs weighting between tanks. They generally talk Al wrs steel. I normally dive cold, drysuit, steel 100's XS 7, lead at 34lbs in salt. Buoyancy empty ( 500 psi ? ) is -2.5 lbs compared to Al 80. ( +4.0 lbs ) I drop 6 lbs compared to Al 80. I get...

    Anyone heard of this ?

My 4-5 year old Suunto Vyper 2 computer said low battery. Approx 130 dives. OK, upon battery replacement, the manual says all I'll lose is the personal settings and the time. No problem to re -enter those, I thought. I took it to my local LDS, good people actually, and after battery...

    would appreciate a few opinions

I've got approx 120 dives on my Bare Nexgen drysuit with fairly lofty Bare underwear. I do need the underwear ( which does work ) to keep relatively warm in the chillier waters up here, so I'd rather not change the underwear. Problem I've had since day 1 is I have trouble venting the suit. (...

I've never seen this discussed on SB

Ok, cold water diving, drysuit , pee valve. My problem is cold water temps and the effects on certain parts of ones anatomy, male that is. Diving in water temps from 39 F to 45 'ish. Think George from Seinfeld and the swimming pool. The member in question goes from a certain size :D and...

Anybody else have this drysuit venting problem ?

Bare nexgen dry suit, I have currently 99 ( next one is naked ) dives. For all those dives, I have struggled with venting my drysuit. It was fully open every dive. I'd roll to the side, I'd get vertical, I'd be burping my arm trying to get all the air out. It was a struggle and very...

Do I really have to dive naked ?

Just teasing, but I'm 3 dives from 100. Yahoo ! BTW, it would be cold diving naked up here.

Don't wax this dry suit zipper

A while back, I posted in another thread that you should not fold your zippers. That thread went it's course, but last weekend I learned more . To summarize, Bare NexGen drysuit, my zipper need replacing due to folding it, so Bare replaced it with the " plastic " zipper. I think Aquandy...

    Lesson Learned

I bought a brand new Bare Nexgen drysuit April 2009. 70 dives later, March 2010, I changed the zipper due to 2 loose teeth. $ 350.00 I like the drysuit fit and comfort, so this is not a knock on the Nexgen rather a knock on the recommended folding procedures. I was told to lay it...

    Stuck Inflator

Zeagle Ranger LTD BCD, 3 years old. I thought I'd post about my recent experiences and see what the thoughts are out there. I'm generally a cold freshwater diver in inland lakes in Canada. Total dives 88. April 2010, I went to the West Coast of Canada for approx 15 dives in salt water...
