Waterproof D1 Drysuit mesh liner removal

In my suit, the legs and dry zip areas are zippered, and the wrists and neck are velcroed. I regularly use mine as a normal shell suit as it can get a bit warm where I'm from. I start from the zip, unzipping the liner from the suit. Note that one side (top one, I think) unzips, left to right...

hydro test in Australia on DOT tanks

You can get foreign tanks restamped with the appropriate AS, but it takes alot of paperwork and huffing and puffing for it to be put through. In my experience, the tanks often end up approximately the same price or more expensive than that of the equivalent tanks to be purchased here. Pretty...

Hog D1 first stage long hose routing

Craig, I mount mine very similar to that too, remember? I just put my necklace on the 5th port, with the long hose on the swivel turret. Albeit, the environmental seal is pointing more to my left than up....

    Servicing HOG Swivel Power Inflators

Hi, I'm just in the thoughts of buying a new wing for simple single tank dives. I'm currently interested in the HOG 23/32lb wings due to the price and prior experience with their regs, but there is one thing that has intrigued me. I currently self service my power inflators as they currently...

How can I sink with so little weight?

You don't have a lot of 'natural insulation' :P

Using a single tank on a wing desgined for twin sets -Advice / How to?

If you're looking to do tech, you probably don't want the bells and whistles. Also note that the T50 wing is a donut wing, something else to consider when buying a doubles wing.

Using a single tank on a wing desgined for twin sets -Advice / How to?

I have a Frog single wing that is the same as Adreno's single wing, with the exception of the branding. I know some of the guys who works for Adreno, and they say that the wings do come from China or Taiwan. My advice would be to buy the T50 complete rig and the singles wing, that way you have...

    D1 Hybrid or Fusion Bullet?

I've got a D1 Hybrid, but as I received it later in the winter season in QLD/Nth NSW, I removed the inner lining and used it as a simple shell suit. I did however use it with the lining once in the pool, with a shirt and boardshorts, so the lining does provide very good insulation, however, the...

D1 Hybrid wrist seals leaking - NOT resolved!

Well, I've been diving my D1 a bit more now (all the time), and I used to dive with just a T-shirt on, and I'd get the same water along my forearms. But Since wearing my torso undergarments with the long sleeves, there doesn't seem to be any water coming through (I've removed the lining, it's...

D7 Pro Cordura ISS - what is the secret to removing wrist seals?!

I found out the hard way of replacing my neckseal, it split down the side..... I also found that having a the cuff wet, helped. I don't know if it's a placebo or what but the few time I've opened the wrist seals, the cuffs have been wet.

HOG D2 metallic whistling on exhale

I would say that it is the diaphragm vibrating when you exhale. Normally the hydrostatic pressure of the water stops the vibration and allows the exhaled air to escape from the exhaust, but because you're dry breathing, there's no pressure against the diaphragm.

D7 Pro Cordura ISS - what is the secret to removing wrist seals?!

Actually, I have the same issue with my D1 Hybrid. I figured, I better know how to change the seals of the suit, and sat down on day to try. 2 hours later, I've got very sore fingers and a suit with seals. Suit: 1 Me: 0

    Medical Issues

If you read into the regulations for the Dive medicals, you'll see that any medical practitioner can issue the AS4005.1 medical, same with the AS2299 for commercial diving. However, I always recommend SPUMS qualified docs to my students as well as anyone who wishes to obtain a medical. You...

Life for 1 vs. Death for 2

Better thee, than me. I would let them go. As I see it, I'm #1, and everyone else does not matter when it really boils down to the end, because I make my own decisions and I have to be responsible for them. It does sound very morbidly cruel and blunt, and it is; I've seen someone come in for a...

    Sidemount razor style harness

Just add a foot for the flexible backstrap connecting the two plates together and add another foot cause you're bringing the lower turns more central. So there is more horizontal webbing, and more shoulder strap webbing. Total 2ft extra than the normal length for a Hogarthian rig. NB make a...

Sydney has an abundance of shore diving opportunities, give the guys at Abyss Scuba an email (Contact Details for Abyss Scuba Diving Sydney), they have weekend shore dives and their tanks are always all hired out.

Are Thai trained instructors looked down on and turned away in Oz

Yeah, languages is one of the major employable points any shop would be looking for, especially if it's within a tourist environment. Note that it would be teachable language skills not the basic hello, how much, beer?? A few others would be skipper's licence, specialties, equipment tech and...

Computer Problem: Oceanic Veo .. Today

Does that have a wet activation feature? If so, is it turn on? My TUSA element and Veo 1.0 NX has the same wet activation and it turns on when the contacts are, well, wet ;)

Are Thai trained instructors looked down on and turned away in Oz

I think Devon Diver has hit my point (it's buried somewhere in my posts!). If your cert says you've come from a IDC/CDC that has a reputation of pumping out DMs and instructors, as a shop, you have to be a bit wary, as minimal teaching does occur and as an employer and employee of a shop, you...
