Why exactly should women not dive while pregnant?

DAN's Alert Diver Magazine just had an article about diving and pregnancy. That article is not on their website yet but here is a link to another article. Pregnancy FAQ

    Chiari Malformation

Her surgery was in Phoenix. She's not a member of this board but I will copy your message and pass it onto her. It's easier for her to join this board than for you to join the other. I'll be back as soon as I get a response.

    Chiari Malformation

This is freaky. Even though Chiari Malformation is rare in adults, you are the 2nd person from an online forum, I've come across to have the surgery. The other person had hers the 1st week of last month. I've been following her story and I truly hope you are well and will be diving again soon.

Re: People With A Pfo--please Read

I have a PFO but not with Aneurysm. I can only tell you what my cardiologist told me. As long as I'm not diving, it's normally not a big problem and I do not have to do any kind of follow-up testing. He did put me on asprin therapy because I also have high cholesterol. Obviously, your case...

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

Thanks everyone! This board is addictive, so I will continue to read and maybe post from time to time. I'm still very interested in the sport even if I can't play. ;)

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

 I just got back from the cardiologist. He works out of the same facility where I had the echocardiogram that revealed my PFO. He says that I should NOT dive. It seems I don't have a plain old run of the mill PFO. No... I have a special kind... the kind that is labeled bi-directional...

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

Hey Jim, As an update, the doctor gave me a sample of Advair and a prescription for Albuterol. They are to be used only if I have an attack. He also wants me to pick up a Peak Flow Meter. I'm to check my flow before a day of diving and if I fall 15% or more below normal, I am to stay out...

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

Saw the DAN doc today for the "final" okay to dive. I asked for and received copies of my test results. Here they are, "The Good, The Bad and The Confusing": (beware, doctor speak follows) Echocardiogram 1. BUBBLE STUDY: Probable patent foramen ovalle with a small right to left shunt...

Local dive shop in Venice CA, refuses to fill tanks

Well Aerodog, I would appreciate knowing the name of the shop that did you wrong. As you can see from my name, I live in Venice and am planning to take my certification classes in the next few weeks. 3 of the dive shops closest to me have been mentioned in this thread. One of them is the...

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

Yeah, those killer jitters are no fun. I have been known to take just 1/2 a pill because I hate the side effects. I must admit that having asthma made me the type of person who never did drugs or smoked. I HATE not feeling "normal". Prior to my Ecocardiogram and Pulmonay Function testing...

Saw a DAN Doc for Asthma Clearance

Believe me, I am. When I was younger and lived in the Mojave Desert at Edwards AFB (I'm a brat), I was sick all-of-the-time! Lots of allergens out there. In those days, aside from the twice weekly allgery shots, when I had an attack, I was given my meds in pill form (Tedral). Today, when I have...
