Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but I just couldn't resist chiming in.
I just finished a dive trip to the red sea, and one of the fellows on the boat had the nocturnal lights video/dive light. A really good product. He was using it as a focus light, but a pair of them would make what I...
Vicente,
FYI, I think the snaps at Home Depot are not stainless. The set I got there wound up being damaged by the corners of the stainless d-rings on Tobin's comfort fit harness. With regular d-rings which have a round cross section this might not be a problem.
I took the PPB class and have since discovered that many of the skills taught (proper trim, altering the volume of your breath to control buoyancy, kick and glide, etc.) were skills that I could have learned throygh practice and discussions with other skilled divers. I was a relatively new diver...
http://www.discountweather.com/compassoil.html
Says it's compatible with most oil filled compasses, although the image shows permanently mounted navigation compasses like those used on boats.
$9 us is not that bad for enough oil to repair a bunch of compasses.
One of the things I found to be the most helpful is to glide inbetween kicks. I also adjusted my trim to be horizontal in the water.
One other thing I found useful is learning to control my buoyancy with my lungs to finely control my vertical position in the water instead of always adding...
Most Marine supply stores also have bungee in various diameters. It's probably more expensive than buying online, but if you only need a couple of feet its not so bad.
I got my bungee at west marine.

What I did was use blue weightbelt webbing for the harness on my DSS rig.
The DSS rig has a rubber covering on the webbing slots to remove the need for a keeper.
This means I can place a mark using a sharpie or some other permanent marker at both the drysuit and wetsuit adjustments. I just...
Admittedly I am using garden variety bolt snaps from Home Depot, but I find that the edges of the Cut D-Ring do gouge a bit of the metal on the inside edge of the bolt snap. This probably is because the material of the bolt snap is softer than the D-Ring.
I am ordering some stainless bolt...
I started diving a BP/W earlier this year and found that I was much better streamlined and trimmed out better from the beginning.
I dive a DSS Single Tank Rig with hog harness and love it.
Follow the links on setup that others have posted, or get the Dress for Success book from GUE to get...
Hi, I'm interested in going to Bonaire at the end of Nov and I'm wondering how the weather has been treating this season. Any hurricane that has passed by or any risk for that time of the year?
Thanks!
I recently recieved both of my DSS Plates with the Pro Fit Harnesses and am very happy with them.
I ordered both with Pro fit harnesses because my wife liked the idea of Quick releases and a chest strap but her torso is so short that the polypoint rings would dig into her chest if they were...
