Thanks for all the replies. I brought my 3 mm hood and boots to use. May buy a pair of thicker gloves since all I have is thin warm water 1 mm gloves. Hopefully I won't be noticed as the "wuss" warm water guy on the boat due to shivering in a corner somewhere!

I'm not sure. Do you think using a 3mm boot with my fins would be fine with regards to keeping warm? Also, I have a 3mm hood, but figured I would need something thicker. Is this the case? I'm a cold-water virgin!

I would recommend Destin since you are a newer diver. The dive sites are closer so you don't have to deal with a long boat ride. I've also found the vis to be a little better on average unless you are going offshore in Pensacola. Depths are typically in the 60-80 ft range.

Yes, it can be done if you do it right. Last October I did a 2-tank morning dive in Jupiter, and then did a 2 tank twi-light/night dive w/Underwater Explorers. Trying to do an afternoon trip after your morning dives is not likely though as stated.

Just curious what "not so good vis" is out at Catalina. I'm booked with the Great Escape on August 29, which will be my first California diving. I've had many low vis dives in the gulf, so anything over 20 ft will be nice.
