I’m traveling to Great Abaco (staying near Marsh Harbor) over Thanksgiving (my first visit). I am planning on 4-6 dives over 2 days and have already contacted Dive Abaco and will confirm my dive reservations this week.

I’m looking for any advice on general information about diving Abaco and/or information pertaining to specific dive locations I should request.

I prefer relatively shallow dives (< 80 ft) and love reef diving… I’m kinda neutral on doing a shark dive. I know they’re big there but I'm not 100% convinced that I would really enjoy it (ok, I’m actually a little nervous about doing one).

Thanks for any advice.

Chester,

Sorry I can' t be of any help but I was also looking at a family vacation (2 adults, 2 young teens) with Dive Abaco this coming summer. If you'd be willing to share your experience I'd appreciate any reply. Thanks

I worked in Abaco for 2 years. There's good/great shallow diving in the islands. Dive Abaco will take you to some of the better spots.

One of the greatest online assets the Abacos have over the other islands in this: http://oii.net/. Click: http://oii.net/dive/ for detailed dive information. This web page and it's message board http://abacomessageboard.com/ are invaluble to an Abaco visitor. Check out the boating page for community life style http://oii.net/Boating/index.htm, and especially the page on VHF Channel usage http://abacotoday.com/boats/news.html#vhf.

Many people consider the Abacos their most favorite place in the world; they are special...
