All the cold with none of the overhead

A recent ice diving thread in the Tech Diving forum http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/technical-diving-specialties/221791-anyone-like-ice-diving.html mentioned the concerns of overhead ice diving.

Well, for the basic scuba forum, how about 33F water, -8C air temp, long wade though the deep snow, crawl over an ice dam at the shore.

(We used the modified belly slide feet first entry over the ice dam, sorry no pics of that maneuver...)

However, you also get great viz, no algae, and chunks of ice floating by instead of a solid overhead. Plus you get frozen gear and snow covered dogs afterwards.

Cheers for Cedar Hill, Georgian Bay, Ontario, where you have to battle snowdrifts in your truck bed to stow your doubles post-dive.

Great pics- I like the solid drysuits- it almost looks like salt stains when the water freezes on them.

Those poor doggies... before I zoomed in I thought they were sheep!

I miss diving this winter, not sure if I miss it enough to go freeze my face off like that though
