Oh, I found it.

Looks like it has what I need (the Sony HDR-HC9) -- I am going to buy it today and over night it to myself so I am all set....unless anyone has other advice.

I spoke with Amphibico and they can adapt the housing to fit the new Sony’s – but there is just not enough time to get the work done prior to my trip.

I have ordered the HC9 from B&H and asked for tomorrow delivery, this with a new 16 gig Duo card was $1,100. I guess that’s acceptable as a vacation charge

I am happy that I will have the availability of filming again, it just wouldn’t be the same if I wasn’t able to have that post dive drink while viewing the days adventures !

The A1U is the "pro" version of the HC1. Remove the XLR audio hardware and it fits all the same housings as the HC1. So it would've worked in your EVO also without needing to modify the LANC cable.

afaik, the only difference between the HC7 and the HC9 is the better sensor in the HC9.
