Submerged, Inc. in Rockville, MD would love to be part of this. We are a UTD training facility and “DIR” friendly dive shop in Rockville, MD and one of our main goals when we started this shop was to help keep divers in our area actively diving and interacting with other divers.
Just a bit about what we have scheduled so far this year… We currently have local charters set up out of Ocean City, MD and Indian River, DE from April through September - all rec / tech UTD/GUE/DIR friendly - as well as weekends in North Carolina between now and April so far. We also have a trip to the St. Lawrence in June, and Akumal, Mexico in August. If you want to get in on any of these dives or trips, you are certainly welcome! We’re always looking to connect with likeminded divers, and for more people to join our little DIR community. We also host talks by guest speakers, BBQs, tune-up dives, and other events throughout the year. Basically the idea is to facilitate having fun diving (which is why I think we all do this to begin with).
Also, earlier this year we launched the UTD Mid-Atlantic Chapter which has a page on the UTD site. In addition to the proposed forum on Scubaboard, all are welcome to join that page and interact, post videos, photos, comments, etc. for free. For those of you in the more immediate area (MD, DC, PA, VA...) – you can also take advantage of the huge savings at Submerged that come with actual membership in the chapter or our in-house dive club (small monthly fee).
