Drbill, sell the house and move on down to the Philippines... You could live like king there and have some of the best u/w diversity at your doorsteps... :eyebrow:

You're probably right, Pakman. I have a dive friend from the Philippines who suggested just that. A while later she moved to Kenya... to follow her love.

Let's see... warm, clear water; beautiful women... sounds perfect!

oh yeah, I forgot to mention the topside beauty as well :eyebrow:

Well my Gates HC-7 housing arrived yesterday. Big thanks to Joe at www.marinevisions.com for promptly answering a lot of my questions on this housing, going out of his way to order a separate light arm adapter for me, and shipping it all out from Texas to Hong Kong! I ended up ordering the Fathoms WP25 wide angle port. Will try to post some photos of the housing shortly. I will hopefully get a chance to use it u/w this coming Sat. during a shore dive...

Congratulations pakman !

I received my Gates HC7 housing with the SW25 lens from Joe 2 weeks ago. Did you get the Gates lens float?

is that the superwide fathoms port? Nice...

Gates lens float? Not sure what it is and whether I need it. The WP-25 isn't that heavy. Hopefully I'll get to see how the trim on the housing + port + light on Saturday.

edit: Oh I forgot to mention, I've posted some pics of the housing and the WP-25 port over on wetpixel.

The heck with posting pix of the housing... post some of the "topside beauty!"

Just teasing you, Pakman. Hope your results with the camcorder far exceed mine. I'm gradually finding work-arounds to make my video here look better... but I haven't been in the water since May 6th due to the big fire on Catalina and a few other things. Diving the next three days on our dive boat, so...

Pakman - does the lever that touches the button next to the manual Can Ctrl dial (which defaults to auto focus) reach the intended button? Mine does not. I still need to get this fixed (which I'm sure will require sending the housing down to Gates.)

Btw - you will LOVE the trim on this housing. I have the WP25 port and no float is required IMO.

ScubaBob, I don't have a problem with that button. There is a guide hole that you have to put the housing button in before it can touch the camera's button. I guess this was done to prevent accidental depression at depth. Try this, install the camera, don't open the LCD, and see if the plunger reaches that button. The spring is pretty stiff so you do need to give it a good push.

That's great to hear about the trim on your setup. Mini Dive had me worried there with talks about a lens float!

pakman,

Yes, it is the superwide fathoms port, very cool with 100% zoom thru. Here is a picture of the float. I need to get it in the water to see if I need it. Joe says he dives without it.
