I was just wondering if anyone else has dove Majahaul/Costa Maya. I recently dove there with Blue Ha dive center and Douglas told me that they have only been diving these reefs for the last 3 years, only 2-3 times a week. Which to me seems like a select crowd that has been there. Anyone else?

I've been to a resort called Kailuumcito (http://www.mexicoholiday.com/destinations/kailuumcito.html) just outside Majahaul twice. It is not a 'dive resort' by design but they do have a small boutique dive operation. It's a great place to kick back and do a little low impact diving. Rustic... very rustic. If you are looking for ammenities (like electricity and running water) don't go to Kailuumcito. The area is very sparsly visited, but not for long. Lots of development planned and underway - plus the impact of the new cruise ship doc.
