Me and a buddy have been anxious to get back into the water since winter started – the weather in San Antonio has been sucking so we are heading to Austin this weekend (I know… Weather has been bad there too) to dive Travis.

This will be our first trip to Travis and I have been reading up on the forums and other sites so we can plan the dive.. If you guys have any reports / advice please post it here, I love to hear the boards opinion..

I know it’s going to be cold since we both dive 3mm wetsuits.

Thanks in advance.

check this for temps down to 60'

also, recently vis has been good, but just as a warning UT is doing Basic check-out dives at Barstow's, so it will be a bit kicked up around the platforms.

I posted a report regarding Lake Travis on Wednesday:

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=189711

Some of us are planning to dive Travis tomorrow. We originally were going to dive at Hamilton Pool but it is closed to swimming due to a high bacterial load.

Thanks - I read that post so I know I could get a little cold ;-)

anyway - this will be our first trip out there and we were thinking of going to Windy Point, seems to be pretty popular.

wjknobles:
sorry ... to clarify, the dive park at windy point is barstow's

Thanks for the clarification - I will be there tomorrow around 10:30 am.. Drive a red Jeep Rubicon if anyone from the boards wants to meet up.. If you see me in the water I will be wearing a Scubapro wetsuit and knighthawg BC.

Hope to see some of you there.

Machismo must still be Darwin's Friend. Are they diving on the Darwin Air comps while they're at it?

Computers. Heck no. They were just holding the tank with one hand and fanning the valve with the other. They tied a couple of empty bleach bottles to their wastes and were ready to go.
