I got one with my Halcyon rig (bought used) and am wondering if this is going to be useful for me? I plan to do mostly boat diving, so wouldn't a lift bag or safety sausage be more appropriate?

I guess it isn't very popular...

It's expensive and very big.

I have the 6' SAM, which is very useful...can be shot from depth and serves as a gigantic sausage on the surface.

O.K...kidding aside...is this the semi-closed lift bag that Halcyon has out? Or is this something totally different?

So, if I understand you correctly, this is a vital piece of equipment that should be part of everyones set-up?
