I needed a wrist watch so I got the nitek plus...same as the duo but wristwatch size...It is so cool. and not expensive...The Duo has bigger numbers...I think it's a sweet set up Use that and a small spg...nice...haven't tried the download yet. Did you also know that the tusa dc hunter is the exact same computer as the duo? except it says tusa on the face..Hal

No, didn't know that about Tusa. I like the big numbers. I don't wear glasses yet, but am having some trouble lately at dept seeing my display on my Dacor Darwin wrist model. They can be had for cheap now. I guess they might be phasing them out or something. But the digits are so small. I've had one of those for a couple years and it has served me well. But now I want bigger digits. The dual gas settings would be nice, though I probably wouldn't use it much with the diving I do.

LesN:
Seen some good reviews on the DUO. Anyone own one? How is it?
Thanks.
I've got an Apeks Quantum, which is very similar to the Duo. Coming up on 50 dives with it. I also have a download cable. I'm very happy with the computer and recommend it.

I've got the Tusa IQ-700 via Scubatoys & like it (same computer as Apeks Quantum, Dive Rite Duo). It is easy to set up and easy to use. It is about the right size for me---much smaller and I think I'd have a hard time reading it easily underwater in the Puget Sound. The Tusa manual isn't very good compared to the Duo manual, but the Duo's manual is available for download from Dive Rite.

The dive rite nitek duo is my second computer and i think that it is the best computer i have tried in a while. I would highly suggest the computer but i would buy the bezel guard. I think that the extra protection helps keep down on scratches/breaks. Definetly buy the Duo.

You might want to read this eye-opening thread on problems with the Duo. It's posted on TDS, you will need to join the forum to view it, but worth it.

All the best, James

I have the TUSA IQ-700, as well as the PC downloader & software. I've been really happy with it. You should check a bit on Scubatoys as the TUSA IQ-700 comes with the scratch protector at no additional cost, and you can get the PC downloader for just a few $$$ when it's purchased at the same time as the computer. The TUSA has a 2 year warranty vs. the Dive Rite Duo 1 year warranty.

They TUSA actually uses a few more theoretical tissue compartments (12) than the Duo (9) according to the manuals. However, the Dive Rite Duo manual beats the TUSA and Apeks manuals for a straightforward English language manual in my perspective - good thing it's a free download at either Dive Rite or Dive Rite Express!

There evidently was a problematic batch of NiTek Duo and Apeks Quantum models earlier this year, but nothing new on this on this board in some time now, so it would seem those have been addressed. I have not yet seen any reports on similar problems with the TUSA IQ-700.

A 2 mix computer can also be handy if you're diving EAN and have some issue where you need to get gas from someone who is diving air - or if there's an air tank or surface supplied regulator as standard practice for a boat at the hang stop, and something occurs where you need some of that gas.

My over-40 eyes wouldn't work well with the NiTek Plus, but they do work well with the TUSA IQ-700 display size.

Thanks for all the info. Great. A couple of last questions .... is the battery compartment separate from the computer and can the battery be user changed? I like it that my Darwin takes a couple of AAA's which are readily available and easy to change. Though it does burn through them.
Thanks.
