Hello everyone.

I scrolled the first 10 pages and the last 10, but couldn't find information on how to hook up with someone familiar with BHB. I will be flying down for the Reef Photo Macro Workshop on 8/2, and it looks like I will have time Saturday and Sunday afternoons and nights, and perhaps Monday. I want to get as many dives in as I can so the pain of $ for solo flight/hotel/car can be diffused :)

I would love to join up with people familiar with the area if you already have dives planned. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! (I am a DM.)

I will be there as well. I'll PM you my contact info...

Saturday

I'm intrigued and here I thought I was the only role model with a big hunking rig.....
:D:D:D
May brave it again next Sunday after work but too soon to tell

Evidence exists that somebody snuck out on *Saturday*. . . Was reduced to using a snorkel at the time (long story), or I woulda bopped down and said "hello". :D

Judging from my light placement I was working on this light/focus sucking black seahorse the size of a pinky.
Strobes had slightly better luck.
Wondered where you were but didn't think to look up......
lots more pictures later today

Sat Report:

CROWDED! Worst I've seen the parking lot, had to circle till someone left so was rushed to get in but then it was all good.

Water: warm, Vis: good, Critters; plentiful

Some pics I didn't finish from Sat the 14th?

That reminds me that I never saw you post a pic of that Jimmy Durante-looking eel you guys showed me last month.

That arrow crab just happened to be on the froggie?? Cool!

I had been on one of my rare forays over on the east side after some fine intel from Steven K. Reminds me that I should clarify that my early entries (lately up to 3.5 hours prior to high tide) had all been on the *west* side, and accomplished by starting out the dive straight out from the west beach area. Found out the hard way that starting out near the east bridge, three hours prior to high tide, leads to some "interesting" situations. :D Turned out to be a most excellent test of managing new and exciting scenarios. :D My strong recommendation is "don't try it". I could have easily ended up walking back from North Palm Beach. The intel *did* pan out, though. :D

Kev-
Actually I had seen the frogfish the day before and he must have had a really bad night because the next morning he had two wounds on either side where something (my bets is an eel) grabbed him.
The obnoxious arrow crab was picking at the wound and you can see him tearing off some dead tissue if you look closely. It made for some very lively video that I may get around to posting someday.
Here are this Saturdays pictures.....
Any ID assist on the strange nudie in pictures 3 & 4 would be appreciated.
For scale the juvie porcupine fish in the sargassum was a little smaller than a ping pong ball and the hot yellow pipefish was maybe only 2 inches long.....
Great dives.
John

Hi,

I am going to the Reef Macro workshop as well. Please pm me your contact info and we can get in touch beforehand.

Guy

Dang! You guys have better eyes than I. Love the baby balloon and the flatworm and the yellow pipe, though he looks completely different from the bright yellow one I've been seeing. Also saw the little orange head, again. Are you sure those things in 3 and 4 (4&5??) are nudies?? Would love to see a bigger pic of it. Pretty cool, regardless.
