If your on the east side you might see this drifting by.
 
Looks like someone snagged it and is taking it into town, Hope it is the Mexican Navy and not some salvager! It belongs to The NOAA.
 
I wonder if they know they are being tracked?

Also you don't just pick a buoy up and put it in the back of a pickup, as they usually weigh a couple of tons. We have a local one that weighs something like 10 tons. It sank! LOL Took a very large ship with a crane to recover it.
 
It is just off the Punta Langosta Pier now. That is where the Navy base is if I remember right. New weather station in Cozumel:D
 
That was nice of someone (the Navy?) to retrieve it.
