Apeks and scubapro are overpriced in the US. But dive rite is surprising. I guess it helps the aud has dropped in value since 2021 though. EU is the way to go for apeks or scubapro.

Why would a specific region make it any better?

I wouldn't see any scuba gear manufacturer being big enough to have multiple manufacturing locations thus having various quality issues.

If you know where to look and what you are after, I think there is bargain in AU and US market. Of course, you have to have the knowledge.
