Apeks and scubapro are overpriced in the US. But dive rite is surprising. I guess it helps the aud has dropped in value since 2021 though. EU is the way to go for apeks or scubapro.

Why would a specific region make it any better?

I wouldn't see any scuba gear manufacturer being big enough to have multiple manufacturing locations thus having various quality issues.

My main reg MK25 pro + 700 + 395 only costs me AUD $635
= US $416.75 that is a bargain , you did well.
 
I have only ONE 1st stage regulator, Scubapro MK25 for 19 years, made to 1641 dives with it
Dan, I have to ask, what 2nd stages do you have or have used in that time ?
