iztok. The R109 has old sytle and new style poppets and springs. DO NOT MIX OLD AND NEW STYLES SPRING AND POPPET THE REG COULD FAIL WITH NO AIR! Someone did that to one of my R109's I caught it kitting up, no air! The LDS where I usually go to and should have in the first place found that the reason was a new style poppet with an old spring. The spring slipped and jammed the poppet closed!


I think the tech meant to say lever not spring.

I may be wrong, but I don’t know of any issues between any of the springs and the poppet’s, but there is definitely an issue between the very early style lever and the latter poppet’s. As far as I know, what you are describing is what happens when you mix and old lever with a newer poppet.

Note: this assumes non-balanced poppet with non-balanced spring, and not mixing balanced and non-balanced components, which should be obvious that they don’t play together.
