I just don't log dives
I'm trying to get over my depression about what appears to be iffy weather for next week, and making plans for other activities just to cheer myself up.

I searched for Mojito reviews here and that didn't help at all. The consensus seemed to be that the Cheesecake factory in Texas had better Mojitos than anyplace on Cozumel.

So, leaving the Mojitos out of the issue, by any chance, are there any GOOD Cuban restaurants in Cozumel? No real reason there should be, I guess, but I have a hard time finding good Cuban food anywhere but Miami and this one little place I know in Barcelona

I haven't been to Cuba, yet.

I ate once at the Cuban restaurant here, that got great reviews, but obviously the reviewers have never had Cuban food before.

I know there are at least a couple Cuban restaurants on Cozumel, so.....how are they?

from Tony Romes towards Prima is a Cuban restaurant. Pretty good mojitos if I recall, and a small bar with a few tables. El Casino.

El Casino, on about 10th, has authentic Cuban Mojitos, the best anywhere. Alex will be proud to make you "the drink of my country" and tell you why it is the best. The glasses are hand painted by his wife, and are very neat. I have had mojitos in many places since, and none compare. He has a neat little restaurant, but I have never eaten there, just usually stop by for a mojito! Check it out!

If you're worried about rain....don't. Rain DOES NOT cancel diving.

Strong north winds do. By strong, the winds typically have to be over 20mph for the port to be closed. They are gusting at over 30 today according to my sources.

Okay, I'm definitely going to El Casino. If I'm there for a Mojito, I might as well try their food!

Other suggestions? I've heard of Havana Club, but no idea if it is any good.

Christi:

Not the rain...I've been watching the current wind conditions and forecasts. If the boats can go out, I'll go, but I am concerned I'll lose some dives if the forecasts are correct. Then again, I can't change the weather and will just need to make the best of whatever I get.

don't worry...the wind doesn't usually last long...and the op's will try and make up your dives even if it means you do 4 in one day:)...we were blown out a day last Christmas it was great we went to the other side of the island and had a great time it was beautiful and the cervesa was cold:D

We were in La Paz, Mexico last month and they didn't even know what Mojitos were. That's a long way from Cuba, I guess, and they don't get the tourism like Coz does, so apparently little demand for those "exotics".

We had dinner and Mojitos one night in Playa del Carmen. A friend of ours use to work at the Havana club in Coz and he told us to go there….. Excelent Mojitos (sorry but we both liked them better here than at El Casino)
They had a live Cuban salsa band playing and we wanted to purchase 2 glasses to take home. Like th glasses our Mojitos came in. The gift shop was closed so the waiter let us take our glasses that our drinks came in. How cool is that? He got a nice tip!
Anyways if you get over to Playa some evening it is so worth it. Not far at all from the ferry pier. If my memory serves me right you walk up the hill and there is a fancy newer mall area on the left. Turn in there and the restaurant is there.
