Not yet taken my new DC2000 combo out in the ocean but going on July 12. I'd be THRILLED to get pics as good as yours! Congrats!
 
In general the DC2000 uses a pre-flash for final focus and lighting adjustment when in any non-(U)nderwater mode.

If you are using a Sea Dragon flash, you can synch it to trigger on the main (non focusing) flash only. It is quite easy. Set the camera to A, S or M, set the flash for always on. They push and hold the test flash button on the the flash until it blinks. Take a photo. Flash is now synched. If you have two flashes, you need to do this for both flashes separately.
 
Was trying to get a side shot of a small parrot fish. Realized after several tries that it was turning to look at me on the preflash.
