It also really helps if you have a friend or buddy taking it with you, I was born and raised on the prairies so I was definately NOT a fish, thought I was never going to make it but I had my buddy (loving husband) cheering me on and shouting words of encouragement and helping me. I also found that floating on your back and kicking with your feet helps you when you need that rest, but cant stop.:wink:

If it was a 50 yard pool 8 lengths would be 400 yards. I don't know about the other agencies, but PADI is a 200 yard nonstop swim. So it could be a 25 pool. None the less, the best thing to do is remember it is not a race, and take your time. There is no time limit so relax and go slow.

A very good book you might want to look at is Total Immersion by Terry Laughlin.

You're right, it was a 25-yd pool, not 50.
