Can anyone shed some light on the differences between these PADI specialties:

- Digital Underwater Photography
- Underwater Photography
- Underwater Videography

Everyone is using Digital nowadays. Also, Cameras are both Still and Video capable like the GoPro. So, is the Digital Underwater Photography (DUP) the specialty to go with?

Why still offer UW Photography and Videography?

why take the specialty in the first place? You really think a PADI instructor is going to be able to teach you photography? Grab a camera, learn how to use it, and read up. Practice makes perfect.

Now, if you're just asking why they offer the three, the answer is to make money. Some people still shoot film cameras, though very rare so that one can go, but videography is very different than photography with very different equipment requirements. Either way the specialties are there for PADI to have you Put Another Dollar In, and if you actually want to learn how to do it, you either have to find a mentor who does it for a living, or trial and error on your own
