Just spoke with one of the people who tried to rescue the diver....

That friend just received calls from police and the dive center explaining the situation. Apprently, the Osaka diver (in his early 40's) had a heart condition and was diving against the advice of his physician. The diver was diving wth 2 buddies who exited the water without the deceased diver. He was found after an estimated 19 minutes without breathing, 120 bar left in his tank, and all equipment functioning normally.

Life support was attempted with CPR, then O2 and AED, but no resusitation was possible.

Conflicting rumors about the accident

The group consisted of 3 divers coming from Kansai, Chubu and Kanto.

Two divers was diving with single tanks and stage bottles. During coming up he was leaving from the buddy thus buddy diving formation collapsed. Something happened after this. His reason to become a solo was unclear. The buddy came up to on the ground and asked 3rd diver who was waiting for them but 3rd diver didn't see his return.
The buddy re-entered and found him. His computer logged 75m depth.

He was 49 year-old, 1000 tanks, around 25 years experience, assistant or instructor certified by SSI, member of NonProfit Organization Japan Conference of Underwater Education(=Japan Safety Diving Association by Japanese) and acting for buddy diving working-group of the NPO.
It is said that he had heart problem but the cause is still unclear.
The buddy is technical certified diver and 3rd diver is former professional of constructions for deep sea.
It seems that he was a newcomer or almost 1st deep dive.
