I'm a Fish!
To anyone who has been diving in the Sanibel island region do you have any recommendations, comments thoughts etc?? I will be there this weekend. Any comments much appreciated

Well, there are some great ledges. I heard word that there may be a boat that takes divers out from South Seas Plantation. Otherwise, I don't know any other boats in the area...

Closest on the FL West Coast I know of is Venice Beach. Captain Jaime and the Arista-Kat and FL West. Jaime's boat is sweeeet.. a FAST catamaran that is stable and roomy!

Are there any good snorkeling areas there? I'm thinking about going but will have non-divers who likes to snorkel.

Its not really a snorkelers paradise. I have, however, been very curious about snorkeling around the mangrove areas. There have been days while canoeing the bays, the water is soo amazingly clear...... front side however, has been plagued with less than clear waters more days than not since the building of the 2 artificial islands that make up part of the Sanibel Causway.

Bear in mind, this is Florida and according to state law, just being face down in the water means you're supposed to have a dive flag. :)
