Sounds like it isnt just the northern sites that can be affected. Santa Rosa, even Punta Tunich and Francesca. DiverG, would love to see that video......
I have the tape, but no way to watch it much less figure out how to post it. I'll see what I can do over the next few days.

converting VHS to digital requires some pricey hardware. It might be just as good to find a VHS player, play it on big screen, and shoot it on HD video if you already had all those - but VHS players are rare. I miss my Betamax.

I have a player, but not the cables to hook it up. I also do not know if the player still works. I have seen ads on the internet to convert VHS to dvd for as little as $6, but I have not decided of it is worth the hassle to do that.

I've still got my Betamax but it's pretty dusty :) Another good technology at the time that got blasted due to politics between companies....

You can acquire cables online, or even VHS to USB cables but there is probly more to the latter story. Go with the service.

As I remember, VHS players were a little cheaper so sold better even tho Beta was better...?

My home bud uses Betamax was an example in stories at times, but so many have no idea what he is referencing.

Well, I found a company close to home that uses professional equipment to convert for only $19 with one day turn around services. It is tempting.

I have an ATI All In Wonder TV Tuner video card that has a coax input for cable tv or a vcr input. It worked gread for converting old VHS to digital but when my old motherboard crashed the new PC I built didn't have an AGP slot so the card is worthless to me now.

Porn was all on VHS. Seriously though it's not the entire reason Beta lost that battle but it was a contributing factor.

This is not a thread anyone with any hesitation might want to read thats for sure.. Having only been to Cozumel once (so far that is) my only experience with what i thought was a strong current was on Cedral Pass. But it was all horizontal. We did get pushed off the drop off but it was pretty easy to swim back to the reef. I can only imagine the feeling on a downward current after trying to swim into that current to chase a shark. Got some funny video that looks like you are flying.

On a side note: i have found and easy to transfer my old vhs tapes to digital (althoug it requires on extra step thna "normal". Note: I also like to edit my videos on my pc.
I simply hook up my video camera to the tv and play a VHS tape. With the camera set to see what the tv sees. I then simply hit the record button on the videocamera while the vhs tape is playing. The video is then recorded to my videocamera. I then simply transfer what is on my video camera to my PC and presto...i can edit/burn to dvd/dump on youtube etc...

I got to disagree. One may not like it, but forewarned is forearmed.
