I dived the Dubai Mall Aquarium and it was OK. I was dissappointed in the quality of the staff photographs as she stood so far away from the glass that in my "great dive" photos are the store front's relection. I second that the Atlantis's aquarium is very much smaller. I did my Rescue at the Atlantis and dived with them a couple of other times and the diving in Dubai had about 1-2 meters vis. By far from what I have experienced the best diving in UAE is in Fujairah with About Us Divers Down Fujairah UAE - Divers Down UAE - SCUBA Diving on the East Coast of the UAE in the Miramar Hotel.

Oldbear, that was when Jason ran the place, Atlantis is now run by Al Boom. The only dive site they are worth diving with is the A300 wreck

Thanks Gordon for the update. They had a really great training pool, but their instructors were a little bit inexperienced. With the exposure there I hope that Al Boom can chance things around.

Say everytime I see a Land Rover I think of you...have a great weekend my friend. :)

Shukran :D used my old Disco today on the east coast run, might not be as comfortable as the LR4 but at least it is still fun to drive. DD is making quite a collection these days too including an SIII pick up, Paul probably wants to put Karin in the back now

Too funny... :D

I'm doing a lot of diving around Middle East and Africa (Red Sea, Zanzibar etc) so I am not overly concerned if Atlantis is inferior to Dubai Mall, I would like to get some camera work done with the various marine life and Atlantis does offer me that.

To be honest, there isn't a whole lot of life in the aquarium at Atlantis. I have dived it quite a few times, taking people in there for DSD's/the experience etc.

I haven't been in there for a while but from memory, there were about 5 small white tips, some guitar sharks, cow tail rays, cow nose rays, arabian angels, sergeant majors, fusiliers etc

They did stop going out in the boats for a while a little time back, not sure if they are diving this side at the moment. The viz on the plane has been shocking of late. Less than 1m (on a good day)

Well let's make some more islands...the silt will really help the Dubai Marine Ecosystem :facepalm::facepalm:

Why have beautiful reefs when you can have a glorified sand dune and a few palm trees?
