DUI DAYS @ Mermet Springs 7-8 October 2006

Mermet Springs will be hosting the DUI days again this year. Registration information will soon be available on their site. For anyone wishing to know what the event will be like or other info check out the site below @ DUI. They will demo DUI brand Dry suits and undergarmets, complete with rock boots and gloves. Furthermore there will be a chance to try out some underwater camera equipment as well.

I would like to arrange a trip with the KPP for this event. I usually camp, but know some will want to stay in a hotel. I need input on a good place to stay locally and maybe a good restaurant for an evening meal. I'm also thinking some might wish to sink some money into the local casino in Metropolis. [Land Locked]

Krobi and I are going to shoot for this weekend. I usually stay at the Best
Western just off the exit there at Metroplis. It has gone down hill over the
years but is still a decent place to stay. The is a good restaurant just up
the hill from the Casino, but due to my CRS I can't remember the name!

There are many places right there off the highway, there are like three or four hotels. We stayed there and ate at the buffet place across the field. It worked out well. Our group goes down there about once a month and spends the weekend. THe DUI days last year was a good time. They have added one or two things this year to the water. Last trip down there we saw FIVE spoonbills and the vis at 90 was GREAT!!

Alright time is getting closer ... so far seems like we have two interested. If there are any others please get with us soon. I plan on going up Friday morning to dive and will arrive close to 8am... i will most likely wish to camp and may have 0-3 people coming with me. If anyone is close to Lexington... I'd like to arrange travel if anyone wishes to carpool. Let's get this solis by the 29th.

Kenny and I are ready, we will be doing our dry suit certs at 1:00
Friday and we will be enjoying Saturday taking in as much diving as

I'm planning on being there at least on Sat., maybe Sun. (I don't know yet) I 'm researching dry suits right now & want to know what's there. My LDS doesn't stock any dry suits, so I have to have one before they will put on a class. I'm looking at DUI, White's & Bare for starters. I've tried to e-mail for info, but it keeps coming back undelivered. I guess I'll have to call.

Doesn't look like I'll be going now. The guy who I was going to ride with has to go out of town for his employer now. I might be going to Pennyroyal to catch a dive or 2 instead.

I am going to go there---gonna buy a dry suit (neoprene allergy) and this is the best way to try them out. Some of the poeple I am going with are camping, but I am more of the 'roof over my head' type gal. What is a decent hotel that is very close? It does not have to be a 5 star, but something that I do not fear for life--lol I have been to the area before (casino), but never stayed.
I will probably get there sometime Friday and stay through Sunday.
I am in Nashville, but I pass by Pennroyal (Hopkinsville area) if someone needs a ride from there.
