Hello all. I'm new to diving and I just bought fins and a mask online for my wife and myself. The fins have a hard plastic insert inside the foot. Is this supposed to stay in the foot or come out? It seems like it would be a personal preference thing based on fit but my wife thinks they should come out. Any help settling this domestic dispute would be much appreciated.

They are actually a marital aid ...Think that will help with the domestic dispute?

they are only for storage to keep the pocket from getting clumpled over time...

I think those are in there so the pocket does not get crushed during storage. You take them out when you dive, and put them back afterwards. Typically they do not last too long.

Come out.

Hope that settles the domestic dispute. :D

Remember, there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. A good diver is always learning.

Looks like she wins again. I'll just retreat to my man cave and lick my wounds.

No, stay, don't look at it as she wins, you learned as sohnje stated.

Only dumb questions are the ones not asked. :D

The also make great shoulder pads for woman's suites:wink: Or you can use a rubber band and use them as hand paddles at no extra cost! :blinking:

After 15 years of marriage, I have learned that it is far safer to lose arguments than to win them.

God help you when you win them. She makes you pay.

True story. Somehow an interesting argument between my wife and I started up during a long care ride early in our marriage.

Wife to me: "Harry!! You always win every fight."
me to wife: "No I don't"
Wife to me: "YES YOU DO!!"
.......

So who wins that argument?
