Experienced and technical divers -- Checking buddy's pressure

When I dive with my 2 friends. We have talked about planning etc... and Just let each other know we are OK on gas.

When I dive with my Wife/Son or a new buddy I ask them thier pressure.

I check people's pressure that I feel don't really have the hang of it yet, and might die if I don't keep an eye on them. Students are a good example.

Fortunate enough that my regular dive buddy and myself ar always within 10bar of each other, rarely need to check. Others not so familiar with would ask nicely.
