Filling own air tanks???

I happen to have a $20,000 air compressor at my work. Its a Fire Department SCBA air compressor. The fittings are slightly different, but the air is of no less than equal quality. I have heard of people having adapters and using fire service SCBA compressors. Anyone ever hear of this? anyone know how to aqquire/build an adapter that will be safe at high pressure? thanks,nik
