Fish ID: Is this angel fish supposed to be in the Atlantic?

could also have travelled on a ship, embryos in bilge water etc..
that's how the suez strait, northern red sea received all those lovely crown-of-thorns...

Andy..there are a few and they don't really help with all that color/pattern change from young to adult... geeesh...choose a color and stick with it..
 
I was just looking through my Red Sea Reef Guide and came across a contradiction. In it the Arabian is the one pictured at the begining of this thread, and the one H2Andy mentions as the Arabian is called a Crescent, which if you follow the link, you will see that it call it either an Arabian or a Crescent.

Maybe that will help clear things up or just add more confusion.
 
we need to go by scientific names, since common names may vary.

what i am calling an Arabian angelfish is Pomacanthus asfur (which is
also referred to as a Crescent angelfish)

what i am calling a Yellowbar angelfish is Pomacanthus maculosus
