Found this motor last night, it was a after work dive. Rush to get the boat, get the gear in, get out in the water, and fight to see who gets in the water first because it gets so dark so fast. Motor is a Mercury 20 hp and is in good shape.

If it was running when it fell off, wouldn't it be ruined by sucking water into the cylinders?

Take out the spark plugs, turn it over and pump the water out...spray inside of cylinders with lubricant. Change the oil and start it ASAP.

What Shaka said or the engine will be toast. Corrosion can kill it very fast.

Riverdiver,

You find some GREAT stuff. Of all shapes and sizes.

Could you please share with us how you plan your dives or what stratagies you use? Do you scout then plan the recover, like the 20hp motor?

What equipment or tools do you carry with you? Lift bags, etc.

How do you recover those MONSTER anchors?

Jeff

Ya didn't find the boat? :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3: It's gotta be down there somewhere . . . .

as soon as I got it home it came apart, pulled the pugs, blew it out and put in transmission fluid in the cylinders, hosed all the silt out blew everything off and oiled it up. Yes it does turn over. And this was in fresh water
