Are we going to see little split-armed octopi zooming around the reef pretty soon. :)

They say octopi are pretty intelligent. So no, I don't think so.

Dolphins aren't as handsy but they have a more menacing member.

I guess that's a better headline than, "Curious Octopus Does Exploratory Check on Weird Creature in the Sea".
(Which is what Octopi Daily would have for a headline.)

My friend Valerie took a much more exciting video of a Giant Pacific Octopus (in Seattle, May 2019) that actually looks like it's trying to steal the divers camera. It at least looks like this is a true octopus delinquent that is up to no good as opposed to this lame news story where the diver does not even seem to notice!

The diver is of course having a blast due to the interaction.

It went to carrying a club temporarily before heading over to the boat.

    edit: one minute mark.

wow, I didn't notice the club before! I wonder if this Octo is part of a roving gang mugging local divers of their camera gear. Alert the Media!!!!

He noticed it. Just looked down briefly and kicked it out of the way like I would do. This one, below is an attack.

Meh, just a octopus tickle. Get back to us when there is a squid involved.
