We are going to GC in about 6 weeks, we haven't stayed in about 10 years. We are hoping it isn't insanely busy.
Our first trip to GC was in 1980, there were only three places to stay on GC and no condos. There was the Cayman Islander, the Palms and the Holiday Inn. The only restaurant other than at the hotels was the Lobster Pot. The Treasure Island Resort was an abandoned unfinished project. There was a dirt road (two track) along side of the Treasure Island resort where the locals kept a 18 ft dingy to fish and launched off from 7 mile beach. There were areas on 7 mile beach that were empty and only bushes, there was no Sting Ray City, no cruise ships came to GC.
This is where I first snorkeled with Bob Sotos (the only outfit available), this is what got me excited about diving. After this trip I went home and became certified.
We usually stay on the Brac or Little Cayman but thought this year we would try GC again....maybe I'm nuts as we certainly enjoy the quiet of the Sisters.
