GoPro First purchase Noobie advice

Also please don't mount the go pro on your head. No one likes watching head mounted gopro footage.

Any particular reason? I was thinking of going this route for some spear fishing shots.

I've never really noticed this. Perhaps due to the side exhaust of my reg. With my head mount I always am recording where I'm looking which is great. When I need to get into a tighter place or a place I don't want to put my head I remove it and hold it in my hand. The filming is as steady as any other filming I've done.
