I could have forgotten as it was 40 years ago, but I'm just not recollecting being told about keeping a dive log. Perhaps the word didn't spread to all the LA County instructors yet by 1976 (I was certified via NAUI under the Cal Poly Pomona Program by the superb instructor Dr. Otto Gasser).

Dr. Frank Wilbur Otto Gasser was first an LA Co UW instructor and second a NAUI instructor.

At the time of your certification he was acting as a Divemaster in the LA County Underwater Instructors course aka UICC.
There was another facility member who assisted Dr Gasser who was only NAUI certified.

Log books were not mandatory in the LA Co basic course only ADP and UICC.
