I switched (upgraded) from a Seaquest Balance to a Halcyon Pioneer and I am really pleased with the result. more streamlined, less lead, no issues at all. I would definitely recommend the change.

I am wondering whether it is worth to switch my BCD Seaquest Pro Unlimited for a Wing system, specifically Halcyon Eclipse.

My Seaquest Pro Unlimited costed me around 750 USD. I am wondering why is this BCD much more expensive than a Wing system. Is it worth the trade? (By the way, I will be diving wet and dry, lakes and ocean).

What would be the main advantages and disadvantages of each one of these systems?

Thanks.

I have been diving a SQ Pro Unlimited myself and just ordered one of Tobin's DSS rigs. Can't wait to get it and start fiddling with it. Don't know what I'll do with the BC either; only about 6 months old.

I am going to try the Eclipse soon and then decide whether to switch. Another thing I will have to check is the weight system to use. I dive dry.

Yeah, but either of the two dumps on the Eclipse dumps air...how many ways do you need to dump air?

There's nothing "hard" about dumping a wing that has less than 4 dumps...how many could you possibly use at one time? And the right shoulder dump? When would you use it other than descending? Which is what the inflator hose dump is for.

Dive a bit more with your BC for now. If you aren't sure why you need to upgrade, then you probably don't need to. :D
I agree with Humuhu (you're name is just too long :D ) regarding the dumps. I have the DSS rig and had no problem dumping air with just the inflator hose. I tried to use the rear dump but I was diving cold water and had gloves on so was kinda difficult to grab that line at times. Will have to work on the rear dump line if I'm gonna continue to dive cold.

You will find the halcyon quite fine and no frills, But again it was developed by tech divers for the rest of the diving community. I had the seaquest Raider and Pro QD Unlim. The Raider was a real piece of $hit and the QD is OK. I won't give up my Halcyon BP/W. Get a BP/W you won't go wrong and if you are worried about enough dump valves and weather or not the wing will dump air, look at a bungee wing by OMS.

Thicker line on the lower dump makes it easier to find and pull , it can easily be done to any wing . My Agir wing came with something thicker than 36 caveline on it and my H Evolve is going to get swapped over real soon to the thicker line.

Okay guys.

I tried the wing system (30lbs) yesterday and it looked good. Now I still have some doubts with regard to this wing sytem.

1. Which one is better to use? 30lbs or 40lbs?

2. I tried the wing system with a drysuit and a steel tank. I will also use the BC with a wetsuit 5mm and a steel tank. Will this still work well with this system? 30lbs or 40lbs? I am wondering whether I will have problems with excess weight by using a 5mm and a steel tank.
