I was told that it wont affect the newer style proteus 10w light heads due to a diode but will damage the 18w lights and older 10w lights.This came to me second hand so take it for what its worth
well my 'older' explorer pro 6 has the protection diode, i cannot imagine that the manufacturer would not anticipate the possibility of plugging it in wrong and preventing that problem right from the start, especially since it is so easy to do
