How do you do it? Cause my name in black or white isn't going to work.

My markers are customised with a dremmel tool. I can feel them.

Would it not be easier to feel the same pattern on each shape cookie? Honest question from someone with 0 cave experience.

Textile indicators. I drill the same hole pattern in all my markers. That way i can feel them and in pretty low viz i can hold my light behind the markers and the holes will shine. I know a few guys that add zipties through holes in the markers.

Every Cookie is the same and every REM is the same.
I'm just feeling for the hole I made in either/both

Different hole pattern for cookie vs. REM just to tell them apart? Do you dive with thick gloves where the holes are more difficult to feel? If so, I would think that the outer half-moon holes are easier to feel.

1) Why won't your name work?
2) Are you diving with gloves (what kind) or bare hands?
Bare hands. I might be wrong but thought in 0 viz might be tough to see the name? Mind you I have messed around with a blackout mask in the pool with some markers and a line but I would guess a cave or wreck silt out or something of that nature would prove different.

Normally you put notches or holes at a specific spot in the margins. People way over agonize about how to make their cookies or REMs magically distinctive. If you take that long to feel each and every nub of multiple markers you are going to slow down so much you'll drown.

I have some marks in my REMs I put there years ago and have never had to use feel to identify them. I think the number of cave divers that were in such a bad silt out they absolutely could not identify their marker is very low. I think it's something that sounds important on paper/the internet/forums, but is pretty much never used. No reason not to add them if you want, but don't overthink it.
