Hi Julio,
I've never experienced that from a charter boat DM or captain, it's something that I've noticed when gearing up around certain divers who feel that's an appropriate time to point out all of your 'improper' gear choices and configurations. I find it distracting when I'm trying to get my gear set up. I learned to dive a certain way and I'm comfortable with it and just don't feel like debating about it before diving when I should be paying attention to settings things up and testing them before getting in the water.
