I have read that Lake Naconiche, 10 miles north of Nacogdoches, will be open for scuba in the spring of 2012. Has anyone heard of an actual date on allowing scuba in the lake? Also if anyone has any info on this lake please share.

I don't know the exact date but the rumor is this year. Contact www.diversdepot.com or www.texasblackwaterdivers.com in Nacogdoches for updates. We were able to dive the lake this weekend to install the swimming area bouys and scuba platform bouys. The viz was about 5 feet but there is still a bit of tannin in the water. It should clear up nice though as the leaves decay.

The tenative opening date is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2012 for fishing, and I read this Spring 2012 for Scuba, boating, swimming.
