The Drager Panorama has a bite piece for the loop, and the rest of the oronasal cavity as a purge. To decrease loop volume you just make sure your mouth is closed around the mouthpiece, and exhale through your nose and out the purge valve. It's similar to exhaling through your nose to lower loop volume when diving a normal mask.

What JohnnyC said. I use a BOV and a spare pod on my off board bailout.

If I lose consciousness a buddy can turn a lever and I have an uncompromised airway.

I won’t dive a FFM without a mouthpiece, CO2 and WOB get to be a PITA fast.
