Too deaf to make the Army entrance medicals, otherwise I would have joined up out of High School. For those that don't know what the cadets are in NZ, they're like the UK Cadet forces, or a more hands-on US ROTC. Basically military-lite for kids 12-18 years old, every Cadet unit has a Regular or Territorial(reserves) sponsor unit providing officers and equipment access and training. Every ANZAC Day our units parade to the cenotaphs and stand guard with the rest of the military during the memorial service.
